Motivational Monday – Where do you find courage?

Do you have the courage to succeed? Sure you do. Where do you find your courage? Merriam Webster defines courage as, “mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear or difficulty.”

Perhaps your courage comes in the form of faith, family, or friends. Kind words and gestures can inspire courage as well as things we read and stories we hear.

A friend gave me a decorative tin box that fits in the palm of my hand. On the lid of the tin are the words,  Give it to God. The inside of the box holds the words Prayer Box. Included also is a three-inch pencil and a miniature pad of paper to write prayers or challenges you want to give to God.

The little tin box is a reminder for me to have the courage let go of things that cause worry or stress. There’s no magic to this process, but it does require faith, positive thoughts, and more faith. One of my favorite poems is Don’t Quit, here is it below.

Don't Quit
by Edgar A. Guest

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit -
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns.
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a fellow turns about when he
Might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than it seems
To a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up when he
Might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And when you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst,
You must not quit.

Where do you find courage?

Motivational Monday – Do Not Give Up – 3 Scriptures to Encourage Your Success

Photo Credit: HR News

Don’t Quit
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When funds are low and debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t quit.
Author Unknown

Circumstances in life can make it easy for us to become discouraged. It’s easy to give up, but it takes courage and determination to stick with something when you feel challenged. Above is one stanza from the popular poem Don’t Quit. I like the line that says, “rest if you must, but don’t quit.”

When you feel overwhelmed, stressed, or just plain tired…pause…rest, and find something that encourages you. It can be difficult to focus on success with work, school, or anything else, when situations are less than ideal. Below are three scriptures that encourage success.

·         “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” – Proverbs 16:3 ESV
·         “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4 ESV
·         “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13 ESV

Each day build time into your schedule to pause, rest, meditate. Think about the direction you want your life to take, pray about it. Believe it and you will achieve it.

Do not give up. Don’t Quit.

Motivational Monday – Don’t Quit

We are in the last quarter of the year, it may seem like time has gone by at lightning speed. Yet, there are things you still want to accomplish. Don’t quit, regroup and go after whatever it is you want to accomplish.

Perhaps you’ve experienced financial difficulty, health challenges or parenting woes; Don’t give up. You are not alone. One scripture tell us, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

One of my favorite poems is Don’t Quit by John Greenleaf Whittier
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a failure comes about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit—
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Go out and conquer this day. God’s got your back.
